This is a young Boer goat skin that has been alum preserved. It has been fleshed, dried, and is ready for you to tan it in any way you like – bark tan, chrome tan, synthetic tan, eg tan, whatever you like.
Boer goats have a thin skin that’s lovely to work with. All you have to do when you receive the skin is to soak it for an hour or so til it’s soft and rehydrated, tan it, oil, and trim.
If you need tanning instructions please let me know.
NOTE, as long as it’s kept in a dry place this skin will keep in good condition for months or even a year or more. If exposed to moisture, even humid air conditions it can be destroyed (this does not apply to soaking before tanning, just to extended periods of air moisture).
